The oldest kid has a long and chequered dental history. The braces first went on just before Christmas 2005 and have hardly been off since. It is complicated as she is missing an adult tooth so it all about moving them to create a gap for an implanted tooth. As I've mentioned before, there are a swathe of orthodontists funding their ex-wives through my beneficence. Anyway, we thought the end was in sight. Ha. She was scheduled for an implant this week but because of her whooping cough can't have the anaesthesia. It's been postponed to March so I will probably miss out on the trip to Brazil. Sad face. I am really, really, really hoping for her sake that this is the end of this tooth related madness.
My sister decided to get braces at an advanced age. Honestly, I'd never noticed anything wrong with her teeth and the accompanying pain and pain in the arse management of what you can eat and stuff getting stuck in them made me wonder if anything was worth that hassle. Not that I wouldn't like my own teeth to be whiter. I did realise when I was watching Great British Bake Off how unused I was to seeing normal (that is, not brilliant white) teeth any more.
My colleague took my photo in front of Raffles on Friday night. "Use your teeth" she exhorted as she was trying to get a perfect snap. The result makes my teeth look black. Whitening toothpaste is on the shopping list.
