It's been a while (frankly too tedious to enumerate why I have not been writing) but today was the first day when I felt like myself in a while so let's try an easy list.
- Cooking: rather obsessed with Ramadan recipe Tik Tok and am craving crunchy fatoush salads, also cafe de Paris butter is the bomb
- Watching: Bosch Legacy as have zero attention span for anything harder
- Listening: fascinating Ezra Pound episode on the declining population growth and listened with interest to Caitlyn Collins talking about intensive parenting vs work devotion
- Missing: my sister. She has had a giant loss and it is her birthday today and I wish I were there with her
- Enjoying: the onset of autumn weather - the nights are cooler but the days are still balmy
- Baking: quiche! I had a couple of weeks in the UK last month and everyone (except ganching) served me quiche. I had forgotten what a staple of middle class Britons so I hauled out Delia Smith to make one with courgettes and cheese and it is delicious.
- Reading: slowly. I really liked Green Dot after a slow start.
- Collecting: I have developed a small obsession for pottery birds and after visiting Rye Pottery with my pal above, I found a delightful little robin on eBay.
- Hoping: that a work trip to Paris in June comes off but the timing is looking tricky. I was envying people at the Rothko exhibition (unfortunately closes in April) and then realised there is a really great little Rothko collection in the NGA here that I ought to go and look at.
- Buying: shoes! I bought a pair of shoes for a funeral and realised I am ready to balance out wearing trainers (which I have done every day for three years) with some proper shoes.
That's enough for now.
Next time you come to stay I will make you quiche. Your robin is very cute.
