We have had terrific storms the last couple of days and it was so comforting to listen to torrential rain in one of my, now regular, periods of insomnia. Charlie had gone to stay with my daughter for the night so I could clean the house without his extended neurosis around the vacuum cleaner, so it was just me and the cat and the pouring rain.
After cleaning I went to the supermarket to replenish my supplies, and cooked Bon Appetit's spicy pork noodles. I ate them while watching a dreary episode of AJLT. I deconstructed it on the phone with my daughter. Antony is good, Miranda is annoying and honestly the way they go on about their age and ailments you'd think they were in the 80s not their 50s.
I organised my friend and house sitter for next week and warned them of increased vigilance by my neighbours on strangers. We've had some break ins in the complex but honestly you would think we were in a compound in Joburg rather than a middle class enclave in a middle class city with some normal petty crime. I am quite sure a man in a ute will immediately be classed as suspicious so reminded him to flash his PHD if challenged.
Today is a tidy up work day before the deluge of return to work stuff next week.
