Let us gloss over last night's trauma with the kid in a hurry, the car door and the gate post. Thankfully no one hurt and a soothing call with the insurance company who kick over to the Philippines call centre at that time of night and are efficient, polite and empathetic.
This morning I was up early and at Silo declaring that baked goods were the only antidote to the tiresome week. I'd done that shop and walked the dog before anyone was stirring. The rain had made the woods smell earthy and the dog ran around sniffing delicious smells.
In a weekend miracle the tumble dryer had dried itself out and returned to working order so we were able to despatch of the laundry hanging around and then it got dry enough to hang stuff out and equilibrium is restored.
I have the house to myself and War and Peace and a peaceful evening ahead.
