I was having coffee with a friend this morning and was a bit startled to be lectured on the need to start decluttering. Didn't he know about me being able to quote Marie Kondo and that I no longer even have the book as I decluttered it? Anyway, I decided to take the advice as it was meant and plan to chuck a whole more stuff this week included old towels which are headed to the RSPCA and yet more clothes.
I'm not sure about the so called artic vortex. It wasn't even frosty here. I was describing to the kids how cats react to stepping in snow. It was so beyond their comprehension I laughed at their bafflement. I can't even think when I last stepped in snow.
I reading this Diana Henry book on cooking chicken. It is so, so good and I've already cooked Piri Piri chicken and Turkish chicken with a spicy olive relish, both delicious. I got one of her earlier books from the library and it has a recipe for violet creams, my most adored chocolates. My sister bought me a quarter of violet creams (does anyone ever talk about a quarter of sweets anymore?)before taking me to the cinema a long time ago. I think it was when my other sister had done something scandalous and my brother and I got shipped off to our married sister's for the weekend while my parents drove down from Scotland to rescue my sister from a life of sin. Whatever, those chocolates were divine, and biting into them is that proustian moment of the 70s.
