That kid of mine added the ganache to our cake while I was out walking the dog tonight. She was off to dinner at her friends and took a slice for her gluten free friend. We've a long way to go in food styling as the smeared finger print attests. It was very yummy. Kind of like the classic flourless chocolate cake but with hazelnuts roasted, then tossed in caramel, cooled and ground. The praline flavor really comes through and is super yummy. The recipe came from House and garden and a new book on the food of Puglia.
It was mild today. We cleaned the house. We have a new cordless Dyson and while I am still loyal to the suction of my 15 year old Miele, this new one is good to do a daily sweep of the pet hair and the fascinating revulsion of seeing what grime has been collected.
Since the house was squeaky clean, we decided the dog needed to match so we took him off for a bath. He stands like a tethered goat looking miserable but comes out so fluffy and snowy.
Now I'm drinking tea, eating cake and watching Father Brown. Perfect weekend.
