My boss decreed that Monday 4 May was going to be our very own Labour Day. I heartily approve since a) we don't have May Day or Labour Day in Australia b) I've worked more weekends than I care to count and c) I am tired a long weekend is just what I need. I am dubbing it California Day since both my bosses live in that state.
I slept badly again last night and woke at 2. I think I had eaten too much cake and felt heavy and uncomfortable so I made some camomile tea and finished the latest Donna Leon. I wasn't too stressed about it since it was the weekend and I got up at 6.30 to make tea just the same. I think I will be availing myself of the 26 minute nap this afternoon.
I've got a new and tricky piece of work to do. I think it's a bit of a test and it will be testing as it is way out of my comfort zone requiring not just creative ideas but follow through (I'm also flakey on tying up the loose ends but I am improving).
The weather is glorious today. I made the kid walk with me and the dog to Manuka for coffee at the establishment owned by the current world barista champion. Their coffee is excellent but their breakfast menu not so. Particularly for a non egg eating kid so we just had a coffee and walked home and made our own breakfast.
She's on a copper homeware streak and there was a 30% off lighting sale at Freedom so we went there. She got her copper bedside light and I bought a bedside table that won't arrive for a month (please hurry Ikea, would so like to buy furniture on the spot) and a quilt that turned out only to just top the bed so that will go back.
Then I wrote another letter (that makes 5 this weekend to make up for my slackerdom in March and April).
I'm fine with this idle do nothing much day as I plan to do much the same tomorrow.
