Do people still have address books? I do, and the most crossed out and squeezed into the margin are the addresses for my sister, currently on her third address in Brittany in 12 months. My ex was round talking to my daughter last night. I thought she lived in Spain, he puzzled. Man, that was a decade ago. I wrote her a letter today. Brittany was much in my mind as I just finished Anthony Doerr's All the light we can not see, set largely in war time St. Malo. It reminded me of Barbara Kingsolver's writing. I'm having lots of good reads these days.

I still have an old Filofax with tons of scribbled out addresses in it. One of the awful things about getting old is that you still have addresses for people who are now dead.
