Work has been thin on the ground for the eldest girl recently. As Spring approaches, less people are getting sick so the relief work she does in childcare is less available. I don't like this as not only is there much complaining about having no money, she is around way too much. There is a balance between the company I enjoy and the rage I feel at hearing yet another episode of One Tree Hill being watched. I can tell from the music that there is some new mawkish moment of drama going on and it drives me wild. She is a good kid though and is off to do a shift at a local market this morning. Her friend works there so despite being a checkout chick she went off in good humour about her lowly occupation.
Yesterday I did about a million walks with the dog. Ok, maybe it was 2 walks, 2 plays with the ball on the oval behind us and 1 visit to the dog park but it felt like a lot. I am listening to Gone Girl. it is taking for ever. I listened to the first hour about a month ago and found all characters so odious that I gave up but I felt that having spent my monthly audible subscription on it I should persevere. All characters are still unlikeable and so far the plot has been signalling its intentions wildly "oh red panties in office definitely don't belong to his wife" "oh parents, not as doting as they seem". Like much fiction, seems like it could have done with a good edit but then I am all about the pared down. I am also in written form rereading Peter Temple who is a master of the bare and pared down and doesn't make feel like I just ate something bad for me (bad dog chewed it).
The youngest is reading Orwell for school. Politics and the English language governed my thesis writing in grad school. I should send a copy of it to everyone using that hated term "curated", right?
I'm reading Identity Theory by Mr Temple. I got a bit lost in the first few chapters and now, a third of the way through, I'm having trouble working out who's who. I shall persevere :) I love my (pictured) 'T's, thank you vv much x

Luna, I am not the biggest fan of that one. I much prefer the Melbourne ones. Did you see Guy Pearce is playing Jack Irish in the upcoming ABC adaptation?
