I went to Sydney last night. My flight got delayed and I ended up an hour late. The planes from Canberra are too little to have much overhead storage so if you have a wheelie bag that would normally get stowed, they take it from you at the bottom of the steps, tag it and then return it to you at the other end. I really like this system which has the convenience of hand luggage without hauling it around on a plane. Plus you get more points if you fly on the smaller plane instead of the jet. The smaller plane is also 5 minutes quicker as it doesn't have to go up so high. The leader of the opposition and his striking chief of staff were waiting for their bags too and I was pleasantly surprised by his good manners in offering to carry her bag. Since she is 6 foot and perfectly capable, she declined but at least he is polite. His policies still suck.
There was a giant taxi queue and late into the city, I met my friend for a quick dinner. We went to Spiedo in the newish Westfield shopping centre. I was surprised how gloomy and warren like the shopping centre was. Nothing special and nothing to get excited about. I stayed at a hotel which was nothing special either. Sydney, you have lost your gloss.
I had a working breakfast session this morning which was productive and interesting and then I came home. Poor Charlie is sick. We like his nose and hope he gets better soon.
I hope Charlie is getting better.
