Miss I, my younger daughter, has gone off camping in the Southern Highlands for 3 nights. There had been a deal of head scratching going on but despite her denials of "it's sand, mummy" I got the head lice comb out last night and sure enough she was teeming with them. So I checked mine too. Uh huh. At least 10 whoppers. Now I had my hair cut last Thursday which means I got them off her since Friday night on her return from her father's. He has barely any hair and I continue to struggle to get him to register the need to comb the knots out of their hair much less to check for head lice. Over the past 3 years we have been stuck in a cycle of getting rid of them, going off to school and getting them off someone else again. The chemicals become less and less effective and who wants to be pouring that stuff on their kids' scalps all the time? My current remedy is this but honestly I'm so sick of it. The most embarassing moment was watching her scratch her head throughout the kindergarden christmas concert. See me, I'm the bad mother cringeing in the second row.
