I went for a river run on Saturday morning. After discovering my free C25 app actually was no longer free, I just repeated the day I had last done. That was annoying but not bad to repeat some sessions with the shape I am (not) in. It was not as much fun as last week as I went about an hour later and the whole river bank was full of cyclists and runners in groups. I much prefer to plod along when there are just us and the Canada geese.
After that, I ordered groceries from Wholefoods (I am going to miss instant delivery when we go home) and cleaned my bedroom and bathroom. I walked up to the post office to send something that the youngest had left behind and had to wait in a long queue. The untidiness of the post office offends me - how can people be expected to do a happy job when there are yellow notices taped to the walls, all the forms are scattered, there are no pens to fill out anything and the staff at the counters seem surrounded by cardboard. I wish someone would do a reality makeover show on getting a government office restored to glory. When I was a kid, the post office was the epitome of efficient bureaucracy. How I longed to sit behind that counter and stamp papers and tear postage stamps off a perforated sheet. Instead of which, some moron was moaning at the staff that his parcel got returned as he had not got a second reminder notice. Anyway, my parcel got sent and I trudged back out into the rain.
The Westminster Dog Show is on and as luck would have it, part of the show was on at the pier at the end of our block. We went down to watch some of the agility and "meet the breeds". Naturally, the border collies were the best at agility and we saw some dogs I had never ever heard of - Icelandic sheep dogs, anyone - plus a 14 week old Dalmatian. Perfect.
