We rousted the other kid out of bed this morning and insisted on a family walk to the frozen harbour. In the distance I could hear a loud cracking. The ice was frozen so far out, a barge was crashing a channel through it.
We stayed out for about 25 minutes but as there were icicles forming on Charlie's chin it was time to go.
I spent the morning mending and ironing sheets and trying to put from my mind the impending departure. We travelled out to Newark with her, a remarkably stress free airport experience compared to JFK. She's en route to Dallas now and it will be another 3 months before I see her. We're all trying to think of a nice thing to do every week to bring us closer together.
