I was a bit of a snob about Maison Kayser when we first arrived in New York but I have to say they do a good croque madame, onion soup and, for Epiphany, Galette de Rois. The pastry was excellent and the filling almondy without just being marzipan.
We're sad as it's the kid's last day. We walked to Columbus Circle and then Rockefeller Plaza in search a particular set of snow boots. I was chilled to the bone, the first time I have felt exhausted with cold and I realized it was due to missing at least two layers of clothing. It was so cold this morning, the Hudson was frozen between the piers. I tried to take a photo but my camera died in the cold so here is one of a homesick landscape instead.
